SoWi?So! supports students both directly through concrete offers to students and indirectly through the support of teaching staff and study offices. On these pages you will find our offers for lecturers who want to get involved, educated or network in (international) university teaching, develop their skills or network. Special target groups also include new teaching staff and visiting scholars who are looking for contact with students or would like to offer entire courses (e.g. as part of a staff exchange).

Space for international teaching

Courses that are not anchored in the curriculum can be offered at departmental level. The courses are aimed at all students in the faculty or, depending on the wishes of the teaching staff, at all JGU students. It is up to the institutes of the faculty whether they wish to recognize individual courses as curricular credits.

There is room for events here

  • visiting scholars (e.g. as part of a staff exchange)
  • external doctoral candidates who would like to gain experience in teaching internationally (paid teaching contract possible in principle)
  • for innovative teaching projects (e.g. international teaching cooperations) that cannot (yet) be anchored in the regular study regulations of a subject

To get an impression of what we offer, you can find an overview of past seminars and lectures here. More info

Materials for your teaching and advising

Our study guides offer lecturers support in advising students and teaching the basics of academic work. You are welcome to forward the guides, link them, integrate them into your course or use them as a template for your own materials.

Guidelines in English can be found here. We also welcome feedback and suggestions for improving our guidelines. If you see a need, you are welcome to draw students’ attention to our full range of support services.

They advocate for the interests and needs of doctoral candidates and work closely with the Gutenberg Council for Young Researchers (GYR). As DoV, they accompany some projects within the university and critically examine them. Read more
