This also applies to processing operations that are necessary to carry out pre-contractual measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">Insofar as the processing of personal data is necessary for the fulfillment of a legal obligation to which the JGU is subject, Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c) GDPR serves as the legal basis.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">If the processing of personal data is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority, Art. 6 para. 1 lit. e) GDPR serves as the legal basis.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\"><strong>Data erasure and storage duration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">The personal data of the data subject will be deleted or blocked as soon as the purpose for which they were stored has been achieved. Storage may also take place if this has been provided for by the European or national legislator in Union law regulations, laws, or other provisions to which the controller is subject. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\"><strong>Links to websites of other providers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">The present data protection statement applies to the websites of the &#8220;uni-mainz.de&#8221; domain if the JGU is the controller in the sense of data protection. The following data is collected and stored until automated deletion: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-big-font-size wp-block-list\">\n<li>IP address of the requesting computer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Date and time of access<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Name, URL and transferred data volume of the retrieved file<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access status (file transferred, file not found, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recognition data of the browser and operating system used<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Website from which the access was made;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Log-in name for internal JGU websites if the user is logged in.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\"><strong>Legal basis<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">Data processing takes place to inform the public about the fulfillment of the JGU&#8217;s public tasks pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. e), para. 3 GDPR in conjunction with \u00a7 2 para. 11 University Act Rhineland-Palatinate (HochSchG).    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\"><strong>Purpose of data processing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">The processing of this data takes place to enable the use of our websites (connection establishment), to guarantee system security, technical administration of the network infrastructure, and optimization of the internet offering (error analysis). IP addresses are only evaluated in the event of attacks on the JGU&#8217;s network infrastructure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\"><strong>Duration of storage<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">The data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer necessary for achieving the purpose of its collection. The log files (connection data) are stored for one year so that appropriate identification measures can be taken in the event of an attack. If a user accesses a web page, a cookie may be stored on the user&#8217;s operating system. This cookie contains a characteristic string of characters which enables unique identification of the browser when the web page is accessed again.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">In addition, so-called temporary cookies are used when individual web pages are accessed. Only the language settings are transmitted again on a subsequent visit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\"><strong>Legal basis for data processing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">The legal basis for the processing of personal data using technically necessary cookies is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. e) GDPR in conjunction with \u00a7 2 para. 8 University Act Rhineland-Palatinate (HochschG).   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\"><strong>Purpose of data processing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">The purpose of using <strong>technically necessary<\/strong> cookies is to simplify the use of websites for users. Some functions of our websites cannot be offered without the use of cookies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">We need cookies for the following applications:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-big-font-size wp-block-list\">\n<li>Transfer of language settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Log-in to internal JGU websites.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">In principle, we do not use analysis cookies or programs that are used to create user profiles by tracking specific surfing behavior on individual pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">If applicable, the web analytics service <strong>Matomo (formerly Piwik)<\/strong> can be used to collect statistical data on the use of the internet offering. The service is hosted on the own servers of the Center for Data Processing (ZDV). If a recognition cookie is used, it is stored for 7 days. No personal data is collected during the transmission of statistical data. Nevertheless, you have the option to object to the collection of your \u2013 already anonymized \u2013 usage behavior. To do this, please follow this <a href=\"https:\/\/webstats.zdv.uni-mainz.de\/piwik\/index.php?module=CoreAdminHome&amp;action=optOut&amp;language=de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">link<\/a> to switch the analysis service off or on. This will save or delete a Matomo deactivation cookie.      <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">Please note that the Matomo deactivation cookie will also be deleted if you clear the cookies stored in your browser. Furthermore, you must repeat the deactivation procedure if you use a different computer or a different web browser. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">For the internet presences of other areas of the JGU (faculties, institutes, student councils, central institutions, etc.), their own regulations may apply.
