In this study-accompanying program, students and exchange students of FB02 begin their strategic international career planning. They receive professional advising and network with employees from international organizations and companies and learn about international career paths .
Through professional training , students develop important soft skills such as intercultural communication or presentation and self-marketing in an international context.
In English-language courses with international topics, language proficiencies are deepened and the professional profile is sharpened. Learning together with international students also tests international teamwork skills.
This course invites exchange students and regular JGU students to an active intercultural exchange. Participants undergo professional training in intercultural communication, reflecting on their cultural backgrounds and learning how these shape their perceptions in international contexts. At the end of the course, students will not only have learned to act competently and reflectively in intercultural contexts, but will also have expanded their international network.
In the Summer School“War inUkraine: ConflictResearch, International Law, and Pathways to Peace“, participants will take a look at the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. The program will focus on conflict research and International law with an increased focus on dealing with war crimes, the reactions of international actors as well as peace processes and the reconstruction of destroyed structures.
The course is held in English and is aimed at all students at Johannes Gutenberg University as well as students from Ukraine and Cardiff and from our partner universities in Finland, France, Great Britain, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Romania and Spain.
Twin research, young people at war, conspiracy mentality, care, unraveling intelligence, October 7 attacks, home visits by teachers, psychological warfare, mental health, children’s sports, political rhetoric in Poland… Once again we show the exciting variety of topics covered by research at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Media and Sport at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.
CRiSS – Contemporary Research in Social Sciences is a recurring lecture series that takes place every summer semester. Members from all disciplines of the faculty – Communication Studies, Education, Political Science, Psychology, School Science, Sociology and Sports Science – present their current research projects. The lectures are held in English to enable an international exchange – with international students and visiting scholars.
The ISSK offers numerous language courses for beginners and advanced learners. Whether you want to brush up your language proficiency for your next vacation or internship or learn a completely new language, the program of study offers a great opportunity to do so. FORTHEM is a network between different universities across Europe. Its aim is to bring students from different countries together and promote exchange. They offer various programs, including short-term stays of one week at the partner university. The aim is usually to exchange ideas internationally on important issues for the future of Europe and to develop projects. However, individual grants, for example fellowships for research projects abroad, are also possible. Read more
